Rotary Hall effect sensor is a great improvement compared to traditional resistive. Inside there is no mechanical connection between "wiper" and track so there is no wear of track, reading is very stable and immune to high vibration of race car engine.
Traditional sensor also is losing accuracy due to heat cycles - gearbox hot , cold all those cause that wiper does not contact track with required force creating so called "noisy reading".
